Why renovation dust spreads further than you expect
Post-renovation cleaning is different from post-construction cleaning in one important way: you are still living there. The property is furnished, occupied and only partly disturbed, which makes the job more delicate rather than easier. Furniture has to be worked around and protected, and the dust has usually travelled well beyond the room that was actually worked on.
That travel is the part people underestimate. Cutting tile, chasing walls for wiring or sanding old paint produces an extremely fine dust that moves through door gaps, under sheeting and along air currents. Weeks after a single bathroom is remodelled, we routinely find a grey film on wardrobe tops in bedrooms at the other end of the house, inside cupboards that were closed the whole time, and settled on the inside of curtain folds.
We handle post-renovation cleaning across Islamabad and Rawalpindi for kitchen and bathroom remodels, rewiring and replumbing work, new flooring, repainting and partition changes in offices. Most customers call us when the contractor has done their own rough clean-up and the house still does not feel liveable.
What is included in post-renovation cleaning
We treat the worked-on area and the surrounding rooms as one job, because cleaning only the renovated room leaves the dust that has already spread.
- Debris and offcut removal — leftover material, packaging and builder's rubbish bagged and taken away
- The renovated area, fully — dust extraction from ceiling down, including new fittings, frames, sockets and skirting
- Surrounding rooms — high dusting, wardrobe and cabinet tops, shelves, and every horizontal surface the dust reached
- Inside cupboards and wardrobes where fine dust has settled despite the doors being closed
- Paint, plaster and adhesive spots removed from tiles, glass, frames, sanitary ware and floors
- Soft furnishing dust extraction — vacuuming of curtains, upholstery surfaces and rugs in the affected rooms
- Glass, windows and mirrors — interior glass, frames, tracks and sills
- Floors throughout the affected area — vacuumed then scrubbed or mopped to suit the surface

How it works
Tell us what was renovated
Message us which rooms were worked on, what kind of work it was, how big the property is and whether you are living there during the job. Send photos of the worked-on area and, just as importantly, the rooms the dust reached — that is what actually determines the size of the job.
You get a fixed price on WhatsApp
We may ask a question or two about the photos, then send one fixed price in writing before any work starts. It does not change on the day unless the job turns out different from what was described.
Protect, then clean outward
We cover what needs protecting, clean the renovated area first, then work outward through the affected rooms so dust is never pushed back into a room we have already finished.
Walkthrough
We go through it with you at the end. Anything not right gets redone before we leave.
What affects the price
How many rooms were affected
Not just the renovated room — the honest measure is how far the dust actually travelled, which is why photos of the surrounding rooms help.
Type of work done
Wall chasing, tile cutting and sanding produce far more fine dust than fitting a new kitchen or repainting.
Whether the property is furnished
Furniture has to be moved, protected and worked around, which adds time.
Amount of paint and adhesive to remove
Spot removal from tile, glass and fittings is slow, detailed work.
Property size and access
Total area, number of floors, lift availability and parking.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between post-renovation and post-construction cleaning?
Post-construction cleaning is for an empty, newly built property — heavy cement dust, grout haze, stickers and film on everything, and no furniture in the way. Post-renovation cleaning is for an occupied home where one part has been worked on. There is less total dust but far more to protect and work around, and the dust has usually spread into rooms that were never touched.
The builders already cleaned up. Do I still need this?
Usually yes. Contractors sweep and remove their debris, which is not the same as cleaning. What is left is the fine dust film on every surface, spots on tiles and glass, and dust inside cupboards and on top of wardrobes in the surrounding rooms. That is the layer that makes a renovated house still feel like a building site.
How long after the work should I book the clean?
Wait until every trade has genuinely finished, including touch-up painting. Cleaning before the last worker leaves means paying twice. If the job runs in phases over several weeks, it can be worth a clean between phases so you can live in the finished part.
Can you clean while we are still living in the house?
Yes, that is the normal situation for this service. We work room by room so you always have somewhere usable, and we can schedule around working hours, school runs or a baby's nap time. Tell us the constraints when you book.
Will you move our furniture?
We move what two people can shift safely and clean behind it. Heavy wardrobes, large beds and appliances we clean around rather than risk damaging them or the floor. If you want something specific moved, mention it when you message us and we will tell you whether we can.
Do you clean the curtains and sofas too?
We vacuum curtains, upholstery and rugs in the affected rooms as part of the job, which removes the settled dust. If the fabric needs proper wet cleaning rather than dust removal, that is our sofa and carpet cleaning service and we will quote it separately — it is often worth doing at the same visit.
